List of 51 Shakti Peethas and Significant body part at that peetham


       51 Shakti Peetas where over 51 body parts of Devi Sati, fell after being broken apart by the Sudarshana Chakra of Lord Vishnu. at the location on which the respective temple is built.

Here,


  • "Shakti" refers to the Goddess worshipped at each location, all being manifestations of Dakshayani,       Sati; later known as Parvati or Durga.
  • "Bhairava" refers to the corresponding consort, each a manifestation of Shiva.
  • "Body Part or Ornament or Origin" refers to the body part or piece of jewellery that fell to earth, at the location on which the respective temple is built.

    3. There are 3 Shakti Pitta in Odisha.
      1. Maa Biraja (in Jaipur)
      2. Maa Taratarini (in Berhampur)
      3. Maa Bimala (in Puri)

      But in the above provided 51 list, none of the Pitta is mentioned from Odisha.

      Please look into it and do the needful.

    15. You have missed one Shakti Peeta. There is one Shakti Peeta in Mysore, Karnataka state. Chamundeshwari devi temple. It is said that hair of Sati devi fell in this place.
